Last night in NYC, Beautiful Textures™ sponsored celebrity hairstylist Cynthia Alvarez‘s premiere birthday celebration at R Bar. Stylist to stars like Keke Palmer, Rita Ora, Melanie Fiona and last night’s celebrity host Dascha Polanco, Cynthia has staked her claim as a top hairstylist and influencer in the industry.
About last night’s celebration, she told Talking Texture:
“In the beauty and entertainment industry, there’s always an event happening. With my busy schedule and small child, I rarely get to network and partake in the festivities. In planning my event, the goal was to have the industry come and celebrate with me. I wanted to show everyone a good time, and also give them the opportunity to network and get to know me and my brand on a more personal level. I was extremely pleased with the turn out, and I’m glad to have made some great new relationships.”
We also had a chance to catch up with Cynthia’s celebrity hostess Dascha Polanco who stars in Netflix hit series “Orange Is The New Black” as character Dayanara; an inmate involved in a love affair with a corrections officer. About Dascha’s role as hostess last night, Cynthia told us, “…it was an amazing evening and I’m so blessed to have had my beautiful client Dascha Polanco host such an incredible event. A wonderful night!”
As one of our favorite characters on “Orange Is The New Black”, we had to ask Dascha about her role on the show. Here’s what she had to tell us:
Talking Texture: Who is your favorite cast member on OITNB?
Dascha Polanco: I don’t have a favorite. If you know me, you know that I don’t have a favorite of anything. I’m like a mood ring! Everything is based on my mood.
When you started filming OITNB did you think it was going to take off like this?
No. I was just having a good time. I started realizing I was doing what I love and I was just living in the moment.
How is Dascha similar to “Daya”?
We’re both hopeless romantics.
What’s the best part about being on the cast of OITNB?
Being on a hit show beau! We just got nominated for 12 Emmy’s. And being part of a great project – one that’s groundbreaking, thought-provoking, one-of-a-kind. And that’s what I live by. Being unique and always going a step further than people expect me to. That’s what this show is doing.
Last night’s celebration for Cynthia Alvarez was filled with good cheer and fab hair. Myself, Christina Brown of LoveBrownSugar, fellow Talking Texture editor Ty Alexander of GorgeousInGrey and beauty blogger Danielle Gray of The Style and Beauty Doctor were in attendance to celebrate.
